Behaviour
- Appears at the bottom of the screen, 16 from the edges, above any action bar or bottom nav (temporary rule: position not set in Figma).
- Error toasts stay until closed; success toasts close themselves after 4 seconds (temporary rule).
- One toast at a time; a new one replaces the old.
- Failures use a toast, never a banner that stays on the screen.

Accessibility
- The toast is a live region: error toasts are announced at once, success toasts politely.
- Close has the label "Close" and a touch area of at least 44.
- White on Red scores 4.1 for readability, just under 4.5 for the 14 body; keep the body short. White on Navy scores 11.5 for readability; the success message can be any length that fits one line.
- A toast never holds the only way to recover; the failed action can be tried again from the screen.
